Irene E. Vasey has lived in Hawaii since 1978 and graduated from the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii. She has been licensed to practice law in Hawaii since 1993. After clerking for Judge Frances Q.F. Wong, she served several years as a court-appointed guardian ad litem and parent attorney at Oahu’s Family Court, later serving as Litigation Manager of the Domestic Violence Clearinghouse and Legal Hotline until 2000. She currently serves an arbitrator for the Fist Circuit’s Court Appointed Arbitration Program, appointed by Chief Justice Ronald Moon.
Irene has been practicing special education law exclusively since 2001, first at a non-profit organization in Waianae. In August 2003, she opened her private practice in Kailua. She is a member of the national Council of Attorneys, Parents and Advocates (COPAA), and has made presentations regarding special education law to law students, psychologists, surrogate parents, guardian ad litem and other attorneys.
Her specialized knowledge of family law, child protective law and special education law enables Irene to understand the larger picture of how our State’s systems interface and how they may impact each unique family she represents.
